No one knows what they're doing - Adulting Mythbusters

You will agree with me when I say that everything used to be fine until one day. The day when real adults started asking: "So, what do you want to do with your life?". 

Here we are, end of the year and end of this fun and instructive series on adulting and its myths. What better way to conclude than with yet another practical answer we were looking for.

During the past few years, after the amusement of hearing that I majored in Philosophy, people started asking me what my actual plans were. You know, the real plans! Once I stopped playing the Romantic intellectual and started adulting. 

At first I tried to sound like I had it all figured out since the beginning. "Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a big television. Choose washing machines. Cars. Compact disc players..." All right, this last thing gave it up, didn't it? It's from Trainspotting, a 90's movie. 

Then came the "It's a surprise!" phase. Didn't last. People really can't take a joke and move on. So I was back to answer A.

Now I have the perfect answer to all my problems. I mean, real life things. When people ask me about my future, I simply say "Do I really look like a guy with a plan?". Thank you Joker for this piece of absolute wisdom from a chaotic point of view, from The Dark Knight.

If a 'goosebumps walkaway' answer is not the one you are looking for, I strongly suggest to revert to sincerity and be aware that "no one knows what they're doing. Deep down, everyone is just faking it until they figure it out. And you will too, because you are awesome and everyone else sucks." As I said, April is cynical and blunt and one of the best characters from Parks and Recreation.

No offense to all the articles from CareerGirlDaily, but reading for the hundredth time the top 5 things successful girls do every morning is not really helpful. What I need is some honesty. Who wakes up every day with the absolute certainty they are a #girlboss? Good job if you do! I personally don't, and I'm sure, if you are reading this, I am in good company.

It's hard to have everything under control and to follow your 2 year plan. Especially if you want to have a life in the meantime, and have fun, and relax, and be surprised, and laugh, and learn. If great discoveries and creations happened mostly by chance, if not by mistake, what makes you think your life is meant to be planned in detail?

Do you remember how your teenage years flew by while you were trying to look or behave like you were older? I have the feeling that this adulting years are actually happening while we pretend we know what we're doing.
